Thanksgiving Dinner Recipes

There was a time when a Thanksgiving dinner without a giant turkey was unthinkable. Nowadays, it’s become a thing to not have this traditional delicacy every fourth Thursday of November. If former United States President Barack Obama can pardon a turkey, so could you.

It’s still up to you, however, if you want turkey or not. In fact, if you only prefer not to have a whole bird on the dinner table, you can prepare turkey in different ways.

Roasted Turkey

First, the classic roasted turkey. Every family has their own way of preparing their turkey. This version asks for a mixture of two tablespoons each of dried parsley, dried thyme leaves, ground dried rosemary, dried sage and salt. Smother the turkey with your mixture before placing it back on the rack. Add one can of chicken broth and a bottle of champagne. Cover with aluminum foil then bake.

Turkey Burger

Start off by combining one pound of ground turkey, half cup of prepared stuffing, and 1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese. Add two tablespoons of dried cranberries. Finally, add one egg and mix some more.

Grab a handful of the ground turkey mixture and shape into a patty. Place the patties in a large frying pan and cook over medium-high heat.

Turkey Kebab

Since you’re having an outdoor feast, why not do some turkey kebabs. Combine one pound of ground turkey and two tablespoons of olive oil in a food processor. Add 1 cup bulgur, 1 chopped onion, 1/2 tablespoons flour, 2 teaspoons salt black, half teaspoon each of pepper, all spice and cumin. Finally, add 1/4 Aleppo pepper. Wrap the mixture on metal skewers. Brush them with olive oil before grilling them.

You’ll need sauce to give your kebab more flavor. Make a yogurt-garlic sauce by simply combining 2 cups plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 chopped parsley and kosher salt.

Alternatives to Turkey

When it comes to planning outdoor feasts, barbecues should not be far from your mind. It’s great to have a huge roasted turkey for the celebration but you should not limit yourself to such tradition. Grab yourself some prime meats and you’ll surely have a wonderful time grilling and stuffing your thankful tummies with such juicy treats.

Honey-Orange Glazed Ham

Who said you can’t have Christmas ham on Thanksgiving? First, score the surface of your ham with a knife then put whole cloves along the cuts. In the top half of a turbo boiler, mix one cup of honey, 1/4 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup dark corn syrup, 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom, 2/3 cup butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon white pepper. Heat the mixture until smooth. Make sure to stir every now and then.

Bake your ham in an oven preheated to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Once done, brush the glaze over the ham. Cover with foil then bake for 75 minutes. Baste the ham every 15 minutes. Remove the foil during the last 5 minutes and turn the broiler on. This will caramelize the honey-orange glaze. Keep a close watch over your ham so you won’t burn the glaze. Remove from the oven and cover the ham in foil once again. Let it sit for 10 minutes before serving. Keep the ham slices moist by drizzling them with the pan juice.

Bone-In Holiday Ham

As you will or may have noticed with the Thanksgiving dinner recipes in this list, all of them can be served during other occasions, especially Christmas. This version of the holiday ham makes use of a whole bone-in ham.

Place your ham on a roasting rack with the fat side up. Score the surface with diamond shaped cuts. Smother it with a mixture of Dijon mustard and brown sugar.

Bake the ham in the oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the temperature of insides of the ham reaches 130 degrees F, remove the ham then smother it with more before baking it some more.

Skillet Garlic Butter Herb Steak and Potatoes

You don’t need a holiday or an important occasion to have a good steak. That said, you would be amiss if you didn’t know any Thanksgiving dinner recipes involving mouthwatering steaks.

If you’re a noob when it comes to steaks, you can try some simple Thanksgiving dinner recipes such as this garlic herb steak cooked in a skillet with a side of potatoes. Start off by seasoning the steak with salty and pepper. Make sure you do both sides. Next, cut your potatoes in cubes and cook them in butter with garlic and some herbs. Remove the potatoes from the skillet and set them aside.

Turn the heat up then place your steaks in the skillet. Sear each side for three minutes or until they turn brown. Turn the heat down and let the steak cook. Once you have your desired doneness, remove from the skillet.  Slather it with the butter mixture before serving it with the potatoes.

Surely, there are tons of things you are most appreciative of. You have your loved ones, close friends, job security, good health, and whatever you fancy right now.
